What would make you feel better right now?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 20, 2008:
Oh, how about another cup or two of natural order? Served steaming with a dollop of whipped cream (chocolate sprinkles on top!).
Natural order? You know ... not too sculpted or formed. Just enough substance to sustain (and inspire!) a mind-in-motion toward finding the oh-so comfortable nitch within a new routine. It is available in various forms ...
Natural order such as the sequencing of these tall stalks I photographed recently. I spotted them during a brisk winter’s day walk around a country cemetery. These golden rods are a visual of nature's artistic order. Each stalk and grouping, organically grown over the years, standing tall and in an informal sequence, each uniquely shaped, varied in height and quietly beautiful … gently swaying in the winds (of change).
... I am there.
... I feel better right now.

“natural order” yes! These beautifully captured stalks are such a wonderful metaphor for what seems to be lacking in our world right now. I think people's behaviour is a response to the “hyper-structure” we see and feel all around us (time schedules, studies which tell us what to eat and what not to eat, airport security and the like). We are, first and foremost, mammals. Our inner-most desire is to be free. When we are made to conform, we rebel, hence rude behaviour, anger, impatience, etc. Nature always requires balance. If we were back in tune with the “natural order” as these stalks of wheat are, there would naturally evolve peace and tolerance. Now, how to get “there” from “here?” Great picture and answer, Lucente!
