O.K. I've been tagged by my dear friend, Otter. She is an inspiration, so I shall play ...

Otter at: http://ottermakesasplash.zaadz.com tagged me.

RULES:
1. Link to the person's blog who tagged you. (check!)

2. Post these rules on your blog. (check!)

3. List seven random and/or weird facts about yourself. (check!)

4. Tag seven random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs. (check!)

5. Let each person know that they have been tagged ... (check!)

Seven random and/or weird facts about myself:

1.  When I was little girl, I used to remove the brown and black crayons (and gray, if I had the box of 24) from the box as I "only liked the bright ones" ...

2. Because I was always the tallest person in my classes through elementary school, I was challenged to ignore taunts and names such as "Jolly Green Giant" and "Giraffe" during that time. (However, I often wonder if that was part of the reason I had such close relationships with my teachers since they were aware of the namecalling.)

3. During cheerleader tryouts in the ninth grade, I stood absolutely frozen in front of my classmates and the faculty judges -- unable to speak or move. (But -- as per my faculty advisor who tallied the votes -- enough of my fellow students voted for me that I actually won the popular vote even though I would not be cheerleader due to the judges votes. Winning the popular vote was a total surprise but a nice silver lining, since my "friend" said I could never win. And -- good or bad -- her charge was the only reason I tried out for cheerleader anyway. Fortunately, I realized she really wasn't a true friend anyway (and I didn't want to be a cheerleader). So, apparently everything does have a way of working out! ::wink::

4.  As a junior in high school, I contacted Hallmark for details of how I could sell my greeting cards through their company. (To which they politely replied with a form letter of rejection. A couple of years later, my greeting cards were on sale at a vintage clothing store.)

5. My resume includes a range of interesting jobs such as: aid to the physically-challenged; selling furniture; housekeeper/maid; sign painter; as well as activities and employment that allowed for me to meet two state governors, three different U.S. presidents and various and sundry legislators and members of Congress.

6. I met (for the very first time) and married my DH within a three week time period. (We "knew" we were made for each other ... So, we committed to love, honor and cherish, and proceeded to weather the challenges of loving for our two oldest children -- whose mother had died when they were very young (and who are still attempting to find their way ...), caring for ailing parents, my own adventures with cancer and the rest of our "very-real-life" for close to 20 years. And he still "loves me so ... It's in his kiss! That's where it is!")

7. I adopted the name, Lucente (shining) Stella (star) because of the situations (in the proverbial dark) which required me to journey onward by the mere light of the stars and my own luminations. (In said journey, I enjoy making gratitude lists ... like this one.

That's all folks! ;-)

(And, I hope these friends will play ...)

Ah, Otter … You are so kind. Thanks so much for being such a true friend and special force in my life.

And, Jackie, thanks so much for your encouragement. You have been an inspiration to me on many levels.

I just want to add that for most of my life I have felt somewhat like an outsider or even … odd. Meeting people here – which has led to meeting other like-minded folks – has been so empowering and provided such clarity to my life.

Sort of like the story of http://www.bartleby.com/17/3/1.html. I am so grateful …

Hey Lucente,
what wonderful answers!  This “tagged” thing is so very interesting… snap shots always are so much more interesting and illuminating than manicured staged photos!
